Electromagnetic wave theory by Clark Maxwell

Electromagnetic wave

Electromagnetic wave is such types of specialized wave that is somewhat different with other kinds of wave like, sound wave, water wave in terms of medium of its propagation. Where sound wave needs a medium of propagation, there electromagnetic wave does not need any kinds of medium.

A wave with a mutual effect of electric field and magnetic field is called electromagnetic wave.

Electromagnetic wave theory

In 1856, Clark Maxwell proposed a theory that is known as electromagnetic wave theory.

Postulation of electromagnetic wave theory is as bellow,

According to electromagnetic wave theory light is an electromagnetic wave and it progress as wave of very small wavelength that determines the color of light. A black body can absorb and emit energy. The emission and absorption of energy happens continuously. In terms of black body, it radiates only a one wavelength of light. The radiation of energy is correlated with the intensity of radiation. This correlation is a proportional correlation.

Success of electromagnetic wave theory

Electromagnetic wave theory can explain the propagation mode of electromagnetic radiation as well as a few optical phenomena in physics, just like diffraction, interference, refraction and polarization.

Failure of electromagnetic radiation

Electromagnetic wave theory can not explain the phenomenon in terms of photoelectric effect and black body radiation.

Nucleus in atom

Nucleus

Nucleus is the central positive dense part of atom that contains the total mass of an atom. An atom is considered as neutrul in charge. On the other hand nucleus is negatively charged. The charged nutralisation in atom happens due to the equal number of negative charged carries by electron revolving surrounding nucleus. Equal number of positively charge and negatively charge mutually neutralize the entire atom.

A complete understanding about nucleus is possible from the Nucleus model of Rutherford

According to the solar system model, an atom consists of dense positively charged nucleus and equal number of negatively charged electron revolving surrounding the nucleus. The total amount of mass is carried by nucleus. The volume of nucleus comparing with the volume of atom is negligible.

The positively charged of nucleus at first ensure by the world famous Alpha particles scattering experiment.
